Word of the Gay: "Situational Lesbian"

A "situational lesbian" is someone who engages in same-sex sexual behavior in some instances but not in others. "Situational lesbians" may feel comfortable to act on their same-sex desires in affirming places such as a gay village, or a gay bar, but in more public settings will engage in heterosocial behaviors only.

Uhhh I think we have another word for this, bisexuality >.>

"in more public settings will engage in heterosocial behaviors only." Doesn't this necessarily connotate that there is a degree of shame on the 'situational lesbian's part? Our real word for that is one of the many types of homophobia I am sure.

I agree with Anonymous, and I'd like to think that bisexuals are comfortable with their desires regardless of the setting. It could be tied in with bisexuality but I don't think it's the same.

The word you're looking for Anon is "internalized homophobia".

It can also be called "closet case" if they are overplaying their heterosocial aspects or a pretend heterosexuality (or just overplaying it to the detriment of one's homosexual attractions in the case of bis).

I think it might also be a common step for a lot of people when they are first coming out to explore those aspects without a)admitting it to themselves or b)admitting it in public.

I think this should just be called "cowardly." ;)
Doesn't really need it's own term. After all, that's not really a lesbian of any kind.
