Marie Osmond Comes Out to Support Gay Marriage!

Actress and singer Marie Osmond was on a radio station KOST 103.5 Los Angeles yesterday, discussing her lesbian daughter Jessica and Marie's beliefs.

Contrary to rumors, Marie spoke of how much she loves and supports her daughter, despite her own Mormon religious convictions.

Naturally, the gay marriage question came up, and, we're proud to say, Marie spoke in support of civil rights for everyone, regardless of orientation.

Contact Marie Osmond at Kesti@marieosmond.com to thank her for speaking out about her daughter, and for supporting marriage equality.

Wow, very cool! Another step into the mainstream. Of course, Jessica benefits most. I've learned the hard way that it can be very difficult to get that kind of familial support, and sometimes, you never get it.

Also, you're right, we need to contact and thank her. Certainly conservative Mormons and other members of the People Against Smiling will be. We need to let her know her stance is good for her career as well as her family.

Wow...do you think the Mormon church will excommunicate Marie and her daughter? Having members of Mormonism's most famous family supporting marraige equality is like a slap in the face to the "Apostles" and their teachings.

THANK YOU MARIE!

Too bad Uncle Donnie is an antigay bigot.

I knew I was a fan for a reason! Reading her new book now. Lol. The woman is wacky .... but obviously loves her kids. The stories in it are hysterical. I was surprised when a tabloid said she didn't support her daughter - doesn't mesh with the book or other articles. Glad I was right.

A mother's love stronger than bigotry, there you go.

I don't think she ever explicitly said she supports same-sex marriage. Wanting civil rights for all is a nice, non-committal statement to make, while coming out explicitly for same-sex marriage would ostracize her from the mormon church because their prophet has made denial of same-sex marriage church doctrine. It'd be like coming out in support of sinning.

This happenstance and veracity of a most well-loved Marie Osmond, is simply the best news in such a long time....in 'merica...where one usually is
"*required to (pay) to Pray"... et cetera...
Hoooray!!!

Anonymous why exactly do you come to a gay blog to say this? How does committed loving couples destroy America?

Not approving of a gay lifestyle is not bigotry, folks! If my kid liked having sex with an inflatable doll, I would still love him, but that doesn't mean that I'd approve of his sexual orientation. Just because someone really likes something doesn't mean that everyone else has to say it's 'okay'.

You cannot equate liking an inflatable doll to a sexual orientation. That is an object used for gratification regardless of whether you are hetero, bisexual, or homosexual. The liking based on gender is what makes up sexual orientation. Not approving of us is not bigotry, it is however bigotry to deny gays equal rights under the law. Your opinion on marriage, or church law is yours to have.
