Don't Let the Mormon Church Decide on Prop 8

I am a straight member of the LDS Church and I was so shocked to see this ad. There are so many members of this Church that offer love and respect and are voting yes on 8, not out of bigotry or hatred, but because they believe it is best for California families to promote traditional marriage. We are not rejoicing in taking away the rights of anyone. We are trying to promote and protect that which will help our country to grow.

There is something different between traditional and same-sex marriage, and while the latter should be respected, the former should be promoted. I really think that's the main point for most of us. "Promoted" is the key word. I wish it could have been a different way, though. I don't want it in the state constitution.

I use to be a practicing Mormon, and haven't practiced in 14 years. I didn't leave the church for any reason of disbelief, but i now see that it's not for me. I voted NO on Prop 8, and feel horrible that it passed :( I'm so sorry! Being Mormon before, i can tell you that the Church it self has made NO DONATIONS to any political party or any proposition on any ballot. But individuals of the church can do as they wish. The church teaches the members free agency. The Prophet will never tell the members how to vote.
Just thought you should know :)

This is such a gross misrepresentation and insulting to the LDS Church. If you do not subscribe to the LDS beliefs that is perfectly acceptable but how dare anyone be so senseless than to exploit missionaries. These courageous men and woman give up two years of their lives to help better this world. And I do mean better this world, some of there time is spent teaching willing people about the LDS Church but a good amount of there time is doing humanitarian aid, like building houses and teaching people in third world nations about proper hygiene for their children so they have a better chance at survival. In fact some missionaries are asked to serve a fully humanitarian mission so for two years they only help and do no teaching of the gospel. I am so sadden that people feel the need to attack and single out the LDS Church. Members of the church are doing what they feel is best for themselves, their families and their country

I think religion is just a way for ignorant people to justify their hatred and intolerance of others. You don't want me to marry? Well I don't want to see you and your idiot children running around either. So can I pass a law on that? No? Well you shouldn't be able to pass a law against me either. You will be the one who suffers. Those who oppress and hate others never win in the long run.
