Web Spotlight: Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders (SAGE)

Today's Web Spotlight and shout goes to Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders (SAGE) an organization dedicated to advocating on behalf of GLBT elders and senior citizens. SAGE offers support groups, advocacy, social groups, drop in centers, education, conferences and more. GLBT seniors are often isolated, without children, are left widowed and without the inheritance of their partner. They are faced with having to go back into the closet about who they are when they enter nursing homes that are not LGBT sensitive. SAGE USA is working to correct societal ills towards GLBT elders.

Diane there are LGBT elder reetirement communities and nursing homes specifically designed for the community. They are few in number but they are growing.
